Drove Around Lake Macquarie on Thursday

Our home in Wang Wangi is situated in Myuna Bay on Lake MacQuarie. Monty & I ventured out yesterday morning to drive around it. The Lake is over 32 miles around and there are over 90 small towns dotting the coves with sailboats tied up on the docks & people having coffees in the cafes. Many parts of the Lake strattle the Pacific Ocean. In fact, the name of the highway we drove on was The Pacific Highway. It was very much like driving down the Pacific Highway to San Diego from San Francisco except the Pacific Ocean was on the East instead of the West & it was alot shorter in time. The weather was dreary but we are definitely going back on a sunny day to lie on the beach & explore. Attached is a video of Caves Beach. And "yes" Diana - the Aussie men wear speedos to the Beach!!!!!!

We ended up at the Worker's Club for a drink. The Club concept here is very interesting. It appears that any town of size has at least 1 Club. To join it cost 5.00/year. The Wangi Worker's Club is right on the Lake with an awesome view & boat slips to use. The WW Club has slot machines, OT betting, a bar and a good restaurant. There are also scheduled events like Bingo, movies, bands & dancing. Monty hasn't found a piano yet but he is looking! If you are planning to go to the WWC you can call a car for 2.00 and they will pick you up & take you home so that you won't drink & drive.

I also wanted to let Georgia & Bob know that they do have The Golden Arches all over the place here and a Big Mac Sandwich (no fries or drinks) is 6.95.

It is our Friday Morning now & it is drizzling rain. Not going to Sydney today but may drive up to Hunter Valley for our first round about with Wine Country Australia.
