When I Die!!!!

I know that is a morbid way to start out a Blog but it goes like this!!

When I die and go to that great unknown (you may call it Heaven), I hope that I land in the same place that Aaron Neville, The Blind Brothers of Alabama and Mavis Staples sing Gospel music.  Hearing them at the Sydney Opera House was truly spectacular  & it may have been as close to heaven as I will ever get.  The place rocked.  A real revival meeting!!!!  We weren't supposed to take pictures but I got 1 of Aaron before they yelled at me.  Hard to believe that 3,000 people in Australia truly enjoy American Gospel music but I am here to testify.  We even met people that flew in from Perth.

Sydney Bridge Climb Happened Today

I woke up to superb weather in Sydney.  Not only was it Easter Sunday but the sun was shining bright, there were zero clouds in the sky and the temperature at the highest point on the Bridge was 70 degrees F.  Sail boats were out in the Harbor and the views were stupendous!!!!!!!!

My guide, Liam, took great care of me since I was the elder of the group & the only single on the "Great Adventure".   I walked approx 2 miles from start to finish, climbed 1,437 steps and stood at the highest arch at 252.5 meters or 1.6 miles.  It was exhilarating, challenging at some levels extremely freeing.  My confidence in my physical capabilities grew tenfold.  I lead the group of 12 and never fell back or hesitated on the climb.

The Bridge Climb, Inc. people thought of everything about the safety of the climb.  At no point do you feel unsafe or unloved.  I was so pumped  after the climb that I walked back to the hotel (another 3 miles) from the Rock.

I am back in my hotel room safe & sound.  Tomorrow is Aaron Neville at the Sydney Opera House :) :)

Easter Weekend in Sydney

Monty & I took the train from Morrisett to Sydney today. The weather is glorious  - sunny and 75 degrees.  It is Good Friday and the city is really busy with families milling about and having a "walkabout"!

Monty & I definitely needed a break from each other so he spent the afternoon at the Maritime Museum and I shopped through Darling Harbor.  The Harbor had Circus Acts performing all around the harbor and it made for an entertaining afternoon.  We rode the Monorail & have now figured out the free bus routes about town so we are ready to go for the next few days.  Oh!  We stopped at Scruffy Murphy's for a schooner & a shandie!  Good On Ya' Mate!!!!

We plan to get out to Bondi Beach tomorrow (Saturday) and then spend some quality time at the Rock & the Quay.   Sunday at 1:00 PM (Aussie Time) I climb the Bridge :)    Monday is Aaron Neville Concert Day....

Pictures are from the Maritime Museum

Manly Shopping Area
Manly is a beautiful Beach town near Sydney.  Monty & I drove down there today because the weather promised to be beautiful and everything we read about it sounded like a must see place.  As the pictures show, the weather was beautiful and the town of Manly is a wonderful beach town that everyone enjoys.   It had a great shopping/pedestrian area, boardwalk and beach.  Also a harbor that runs ferries to and from Sydney in 30 minutes.  There are alot of people out & about because it is Easter week holiday for the kids.  The temperature reached 80 degrees - not bad for an Autumn day.

I also received an email today from a lovely Brazilan woman.  Maria was on the Uluru BusTrip with us and we bonded.  She sent us her Uluru pictures & I thought I would share just 2 of them.  One is Monty & I having champangne while waiting for the sun to set on Uluru and the other is of Vickie.  Vickie is an Aborigine woman who was selling her art at Uluru.  Yes, I bought a few of her pieces!  I am such a sucker......
